When you enter the U.S.:

To avoid any problems and confusion at a U.S Port of Entry (immigration office at the airport or border), please ensure you carry the following documents WITH YOU while you are traveling. Do NOT put them in your checked luggage:

Valid passport (must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned entry date to the U.S.)
Valid U.S. student visa (either F-1 orJ-1 student visa)
Letter of Acceptance or welcome letter from NWU
Evidence of Financial Support (bank statement etc.)
I-901 SEVIS fee receipt
Form I-20 (for F-1 visa student) OR Form DS-2019 (for J-1 visa student)

If you are missing documents, you may be unable to enter the U.S. or you may receive a Form I-515A. If you receive a Form I-515A, please report the Office of Global Engagement immediately after you arrive on campus. Timely response is extremely important to avoid risks such as termination of your legal status. Ensure you are well-prepared with all necessary documents before traveling to the U.S. to avoid any complications.
